How Burberry use their classical coat brings new trend
—-Reviews of Burberry’s Fall 2020 Runway Show
‘Moving back to London recently – a city I first discovered as a young student – gave me a real sense of nostalgia. It was the place where I learnt to be myself and a city where I gained the confidence to be the man that I am today. I have this strong feeling of pride when I think about the early days of my career, when I was an emerging designer still learning my craft and taking inspiration wherever I could find it.
The memory of this special and formative time in my life is what has influenced this collection – from the places I visited and the people that surrounded me to the music that inspired me. It is this side of my personal journey that I wanted to blend with the codes and language that I have started to define on my latest journey here at Burberry.’

This collection’s main theme is Memories, and this is the fourth collection after Riccardo Tisci become the creative director of Burberry. All inspirations come from Riccardo’s memory, he recalls the time as a young designer when he was constantly taking inspiration from around him and learning how to design, including the places he visited, the people he met and the music that inspired his work. The iconic trench coat and classical plaid pattern of Burberry are still the most popular piece in this new season, and Riccardo Tisci shows us a bunch of new ways of wearing a trench coat and use of a plaid pattern.

Especially this black leather look. Add long ribbon at the waist, add the feminine element into the unisex trench coat. This look nicely combines the different fabrics. Leather gives a cool street feeling and the ribbon is flowing gives a fairy feeling. This two element meets together. The whole look contains both masculine and feminine, really trendy.

Lot’s of looks has three or more paid to combine together, but actually not chaos but more trendy. When you see those plaid it owns, it’s actually just classic plaid. It’s such a bold and surprise way of showing the plaid but Riccardo made it successful. Of course people will not wear this in daily life, but every garment is very wearable and can have multiple way to styling it.

Most looks in this season it’s wearable and shows Burberry’s traditional culture. But some of the look I do not get the beauty of it. Now I’m gonna talk about the looks that I don’t understand of the show. Such as those messy colorful plaid together. The same color tone of the plaid gives high-fashion sense, but this colorful plaid together looks like they just grad everything they have and wears them on the body.

Some of the Looks add young England style in it such as the rugby shirt. The rugby shirt was the shirt England student wears when they play rugby, different strips to distinguish different team. It’s really youthful and preppy. But the color keeps reminding me of Harry Potter. Not that I don’t like Harry Potter, I actually love Harry Potter. However, if I saw this on the street I would never think of it’s Burberry, I would think is the related products of Harry Potter.
